Since 2002 our team of “railheads” have helped clients develop new rail services and interchanges, by providing independent and objective consultancy support. Our team collectively provides over 250 years of experience in the rail and wider logistics sector, most of this gained in frontline management and operational roles.

Our experience in new development projects covers more than 50 million square feet of rail-linked industrial floorspace, with an equally strong track record in helping secure consent on Appeal and through the Development Consent Order process. Our work in the development sector ranges from new quarries, factories, national and regional distribution hubs and local interchanges, to new settlements and even major new theme parks.

We’ve also been at the forefront of cutting-edge rail freight services, with 20 years of experience helping create high-speed, low-carbon urban distribution solutions for carriers, couriers and major retailers.

Our expanding project and service capability has expanded, working in close collaboration with colleagues at 9th Wave Consulting, Donnelly Rail Services, Spate Rail Consultancy and Trust Rail Services, to include:

  • Track, signalling and overhead electrification design support;
  • Multimodal logistics across road, rail, sea and air transport;
  • Sustainable energy and carbon capture & storage projects;
  • Engagement with Network Rail on lineside developments, including industrial, residential and power / gas infrastructure.

Our work in helping clients deliver new projects has been recognised by the UK Rail Freight Group, Intermodality collecting the award for Support Service Provider of the Year in 2011. In 2013 we collected first prize for rail freight at the EIT innovation competition on behalf of client Stobart Group. In recent years we’ve also sponsored the Excellence in Mode Shift Award, part of the Logistics UK’s Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme’s annual awards. We’re also registered with the RISQS Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (No.6688), and are members of the Rail Freight Group and Logistics UK.
